This is my life alone

Paris…

Sorry for being absent on here so much, will try to keep up with you all and give some images of Paris next week. I just packed my stuff again and one more day of work seperates me from a week in the french capital.

The french open is waiting for me and I am looking forward a lot to see great tennis and to stroll through this city. It’s still one of my favourite weeks in the year.

Vamos con todo. :)

Little sisters

Little sisters grow up fast.

I remember like it was yesterday when my sister was born. It was a cold day in february, -11 degrees and early in the morning. I was sleeping on the top floor of the house, when the printer was turned on. My father was printing the birth cards of the new baby, that was the first sign that we had a little sister.

She grew up, of course, and I always loved to go out with her, to walk in the park, to pick flowers or just stroll around with her in the buggy. As she became older, she was more with my brothers, cause I left my parent’s house when she was 6 years old.

Thinking back now, it makes me sad that almost half her life she’s been between my father and mother, in their relationship that had troubles for over 7 years. Nowadays, my sis and mother live apart, and they try to get their normal rythm of live back, to move on with the two of them.

One thing that my sister does often, is being on the computer. This morning, mothersday, we were in the livingroom and chatted a bit. She told that someone had spammed her facebook with hearts, and her cheeks turned a bit more red. I checked it out a bit and was laughing in silence…

Now my sister turned her facebook status into ‘relationship, and even more hearts have come on her facebook. I don’t think I had an online relationship when I was her age (16).

I wonder… ór I am getting old, ór those things are normal now… Little sisters grow up, sometimes a bit too fast…

I can’t find pictures of todays QF but I do have some of yesterdays match, again thanks to the tournament. :)

Flower power. (Taken with instagram)

Almost in Barcelona…

When I woke up this morning, I was feeling excited. Today would be a day, with maybe the end in another country. It’s the time of year that the tennistournament of Barcelona takes place, and last year I made a promise. If Feliciano would have made it to SF, I’d go there, no matter what it takes me. This year went the same, Feliciano was in QF, and had to face Ferrer today.

I left my home this morning, as I work from 12 till 8, with an extra bag. Brought my passport,  aset of clothes, my camera with a new card and my laptop. All ready to book a flight to Barcelona tonight, if Feliciano would win.

The day went slow, and it seemed to me that this match never would start. Finally after waiting for hours, it were David and Feliciano who came on court. I loved what I saw. Feli played awesome, and even though the record on clay is all for Ferrer, he looked great, with confidence on the court. First set went to Feli in tiebreak, and in my head I had one leg in the airplane already.

Then the second set, again it was so close and it all went on serve. Feli had two matchpoints at 5-4 and my heart nearly stopped. Would I go to Barcelona tonight? David made it 5-5 and both played another tiebreak. First it seemed it would go to Feli, and then again it was for David. They exchanged set- and matchpoints, but iin the end it was David who won the set.

I’m always scared when Feliciano has chances to win a match, but then doesn’t push through. Always scared he might stay in that feeling and doesn’t have the faith anymore, but he kept fighting hard. Unfortunately David brok him at 3-2 and Feli couldn’t break him back. Just imagine how I sat here, sweating, looking at tv, hardly daring to watch, shaky and in the end, terrible sad. He is playing so awesome and deserved to win this too. But it wasn’t meant to be… My heart broke for Feli as I saw him walk away, so disappointed. I couldn’t stop crying for a while, somehow I was so sure that Feli would do it today. I was so sure I’d go by plane to Barcelona to see him shine in SF tomorrow.

But no… now I’m quiet again. Proud too, as this level on clay is just awesome to watch. Hope the confidence is there to go all the way in Munich and Madrid, and yes, I’ll see him soon anyway…

Still I make this promise again and again… if Feliciano ever makes it to SF in Barcelona, I’ll be there. I love this tournament and I love that man. Can’t be much better than that! ;)

Not completely sharp but still I like this action pic. :) I was too busy looking at the match and cheering Feli on to take a piece of video, so I just have one of the practice. You gotta wait for that one cause I am supposed to go to work soon.

Olympic tennis tickets!

How come I see that my other blog has a message with one note, but I can’t see the note? Does that mean that someone who I have blocked, has reacted or reblogged it? Wouldn’t be strange, as I told in that blog I have tickets for the Olympic tennis! But I am happy with it, and I share it, so well, sorry if ppl are jealous, but I feel like I moved heaven and earth to get them, so I am gonna enjoy it there! Two days only so far, cause my money didn’t allow me to buy more, as Monte Carlo is just 2 days away for me… Maybe we get another day later, I hope for july 30th too…

Still it’s hard to believe I’m going with a spanish friend to London to see the tennis… No matter who comes there, it will be better than a grand slam, I hope. :)) That makes up that I couldn’t get hands on cycling, as I wanted cycling too…

Guess you can expect some excited and happy blogs in the months to come. YAY, life is so good at the moment! I can’t believe I lost a kilo weight, while I am just living and enjoying my sports. I really eat all that I want but I enjoy exercising. They say that I have lost fat, but gained muscles. Oh well, most important is feeling good, and that is what I do. ;)

Goodnight for now, I”m sleaping early because I want a zumba lesson tomorrow. I love those classes, I am still dancing at home when I am back from that lesson. :) Have a good day y’all! :)

Did you know?

I was just checking a dutch website, that has some funny tennisfacts on it. Let me share them with you. Now it´s like I am writing a blog haha, while I am just copying. Oh well, at least you don´t see me do reblogs often, so I am allowed to be a bit lazy today.

Btw, I am on the way to Monte Carlo this weekend, so let´s see if I can share with u guys. It seems that my hotel has wifi, and my laptop charger is in the bag already. ;) Nothing better than travelling for tennis! :)

Here’s the funny facts I read:

Did you know?

  • The first Tennis balls were made of wool or hair, wrapped up in leather.
  • The first Tennis rackets were wooden, with strings made of sheep or bovine intestines.
  • One theory behind the unusual scoring system used in a Tennis game relates to the presence of a clock on the court. People think that the clock hand was moved forward by 15 minutes a time to record the score.
  • Tennis gets its name from the French ‘Tenez’, which means ‘Here you go’. Players used to shout this phrase before they served the ball.
  • ‘Love’ - the term for ‘no points’ in Tennis - is thought to come from the French word ‘l’oeuf’, meaning ‘egg’ - the shape of a zero.
  • King Henry VIII was a champion in Real (or ‘royal’) Tennis – a precursor of the modern sport.

Funny videos for the Barcelona Open

I have said for many years that one of my favourite tournaments is the tournament of Barcelona. First of all it’s my favourite city in the world that I have visited so far, and the Barcelona Open is just nice. I love the atmosphere there and it’s not too big, so you can easily cover all courts.

This year I can’t go there (Monte Carlo and a few days Madrid will do this year) but I just love their advertisements of this years edition of the BCN tournament. Check them out, they’re funny! I hope they make more in the next weeks to come.

National Pancake day

It’s national pancake day in Holland today! I am not sure if our pancake day has something to do with the roots of the pancake day in Ireland, England and australia, because I have read this goes back to centuries ago, when pancakde day was the tuesday before Ash wednesday. The christians were fasting for 40 days, and weren’t allowed to eat eggs and milk. And it was a waste of food to throw away those ingredients, so they baked pancakes of it.

Nowadays they’re not that strict with the fasting, but eating pancakes is still a joy for the old and the yough. That’s why Holland has his own National Pancake day too. Highlight is that primary schoolkids bake them for the older ppl who can’t bake them for themselves.

Then, to end my pancake blog, some facts. Did you know that:
* the recipe for pancakes was brought in the 12th century by crusaders from China and Nepal
* there’s a cookbook saved from 1439 in which the pancake was mentioned already
* the American pancake is thicker than the Dutch pancake
* the French crêpe is thinner than the Dutch pancake
* the biggest pancake ever had a diamter from 15 meter and was about 3000 kilograms
* the worldrecord as fast as possible pancake flipping is 416 times in 2 minutes
* the worldrecord as long as possible pancake flipping is 3 hours, 2 minutes and 27 seconds
* the worldrecord pancake tower building is 84 centimeters

So, are you hungry yet? :P
